In the pre-school classroom our main focuses for the children are social development, classroom skills, and inspiring curiosity for the world surrounding them. We provide structured activities at the tables and a consistent academic schedule to help the children adapt to a classroom setting. They are socially and academically evaluated on a regular basis and taught in groups with their peers. Academics are centered on number and letter recognition, beginning writing, and the relationships between objects and concepts. At this stage, we begin participating in more group activities in order to develop social skills such as conflict resolution, empathy, and respect. Through art and music, we are able to explore our creative sides, and by promoting and encouraging questions, they can come to enjoy learning about the world and society they live in. Each week, our three-year-olds enjoy special activities including show-n-tell, music with a guest instructor, and walking field trips to Changing Hands Bookstore.
